RE-ADVERTIZED GRANTS MANAGER (1 POSITION) The Foundation for Civil Society is an independent Tanzanian organization whose vision is to become a sustainable model of excellence that contributes to the development of a vibrant, creative, imaginative and effective civil society sector that enables citizens to engage in the democratic process, promote human rights and contribute to poverty reduction and a better quality of life for all Tanzanians.
The Foundation is among the largest support programs for civil society in Tanzania. It is committed to delivering support services to Tanzanian civil society organizations as a means of strengthening their capacity to effectively contribute to the country’s poverty reduction efforts. In particular, it provides the following services: grant making and capacity building; networking and partnership; and research, information generation and dissemination.
As part of its growth and reorganization, the Foundation is inviting qualified Tanzanians to fill the position of Grants Manager, in its offices in Dar es Salaam. This is a senior management position that offers an excellent opportunity to work with and learn from civil society organizations from all over the country.

JOB PURPOSE
To provide supervision to staff in the Grants Department and oversee the grants making process which is the core business of the Foundation. S/he is also expected to ensure that the Grants services are harmonized and coordinated with the Capacity Building Services, Monitoring and Evaluation, and also Administrative and Finance Services.
DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS
· Master’s degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration, Accounting, Law or related programs with at least three years experience in grants or project management
· Excellent Supervisory skills. Must be a team player, very self motivated and able to make balanced judgment
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills
· Excellent, well developed interpersonal and organizational skills
· An in depth knowledge of the civil society sector and development processes in Tanzania
· Fluency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili
· Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office Applications
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· To ensure that grants staff members are provided with effective leadership and work as a team
· To ensure that the Grants Services are effectively executed and regularly reported to the Executive Director
· To ensure consistency and quality assurance in the grants services is maintained, and staff development and continuing learning actively promoted
· To ensure that the Foundation’s grants policies, procedures and regulations are highly developed, strongly adhered and regularly reviewed
· To ensure that the quality and timeframes of all grants information is maintained
· To ensure that the Grants services comply with other Foundation functions
· Perform any other task as assigned by the Executive Director
