The Foundation normally establishes capacity needs from the CSOs' before coming up with a proposal for capacity building/development intervention.
- Grants Management Training to new grant holders – After CSOs' are awarded a grant from the Foundation, a three day training is conducted to for the new grantees on how to manage their projects. These types of training are designed to enable grantees to achieve the intended outcomes of their projects. The training covers areas from project cycle, financial management, reporting, monitoring and evaluation.
- Public Policy Dialogues (PPD) – These are carefully planned events that aim at bringing together various stakeholders to discuss and chart a way forward on a variety of developmental issues. The stakeholders are primarily CSOs' representatives (smallholder farmers, NGOs representatives, the vulnerable, women, men and youth), as well as government officials from different levels and the general public. Since November 2005, The Foundation is liaising with regional CSOs networks to organise these policy discussions dubbed "Ulingo wa Maendeleo". The PPD also works as a strategy in enhancing the capacity of CSOs to engage in policy issues at local level. Since November 2005, PPDs'have been organised in Mwanza, Morogoro, Rukwa, Kigoma and Dodoma. They have also been held in Musoma, Arusha, Iringa, Zanzibar and Mtwara. Many burning issues (on poverty, good governance, health, education, water and agriculture as well as participatory democracy) were brought to the forefront. CSOs' came up with concrete action plans for follow up.

- Monitoring and Backstop visits – In 2005, the Foundation adopted a philosophy known as “Outcome Investor Approach”. According to this philosophy, we sharing and try to be as close as possible to stakeholders (grantees). The purpose is to enable sharing of experiences, challenges and successes for mutual benefits of our investments. The Grants and Development Department conduct regular field visits for monitoring and providing backstopping to grantees.
